God's Love Satisfies My Heart
...in the midst of shattered dreams...

“I’m proud to be an American.” Lee Greenwood has sung the song for more than a decade. Many of us are grateful and proud to live in the USA. However, we are loosing our freedom to be Christian. June’s E- News quoted a Georgetown University Law Professor who is a gay activists saying – you can’t expect a gay person to be gay and not engage in gay sex... what do you think being gay is all about? Likewise, gay people can’t expect Christians to live without moral values. What do you think being Christian is all about?

These words resonate in my heart... ringing Lee Greenwoods anthem. There are those fighting one both sides of the multiple arguments for religious liberty and freedom for an individuals sexual expression. What I am learning is that God calls us to speak the truth of His Word without compromise and to cushion that truth in love. It is only God’s Love that changes the heart and makes it new with right desires (Isaiah 36:26). It is only God’s Love that compels a man, woman, or teen to embrace Jesus Christ as Lord, Life, Liberator, and Leader. It is LOVE, God’s LOVE that moves us toward Himself and His purposes for our existence.

I cannot change the heart, the treasure chest of values, another person holds. Such transformation is God’s job. My job is to speak truth and watch as God turns many from sin to the One, Jesus, who is able to give them a new heart with new and right desires, an undivided heart with Jesus as the only value, and a satisfied heart where Jesus fills all the empty places when we suffer loss throughout our lives. “Each loss is truest gain if, day by day, He (Jesus) fills the place of all He takes away.”

Join us in this ministry where our motto and vision is:

  • Radical Truth and Radical Love for a Radical Freedom
  • – No Compromise –
  • that’s what GRACE is all about!!!

The Browning Saga Continues...
Medical and Rehab
Does God promise health and wealth? Many of you may opt-out of receiving our e-news as you read this section. It seems to be happening more and more. Non-Christians and Christians of all flavors – Baptists, Pentecostals, Reformers (like me); even Lutherans, Nazarenes, and Church of Christ are withdrawing their support and care NOT to receive our e-news. Some even write letters of correction in hopes to save “little ole me”, thank you for loving me so deeply. I mean it! Those who take the time to email truly show their interests and concerns. Again thank you for loving me enough to not opt out but voice your opinions and concerns.

Many will not like my answer to the above question. Let me rewrite once again. Does God promise health and wealth to every Christian? I have received email declaring that my wife or I must be living in some secret sin since Ginger is not walking yet and my brain is still not recovered. One wrote and encouraged us to have more faith and we would be healed.

Folks, I am going to share my family’s health issues with you shortly. But first let me address this issue of faith. God is the potter and we are just the molding clay. If my brain injury and my wife’s paralysis remain it is only because God will use it for His glory. I am not going to quote Scripture because each person with a perspective has an armory of Bible verses to back up their belief. Instead, I would ask you to respect our choice to believe that God might use these injuries to show His Life of love, liberation, and leadership to those He brings to journey together with us on this earth. God is in charge, not us or you.

One Pentecostal lady summed it all up best. She made a profound statement. “God has already healed you, Ron and your wife, Gin. It is now only a matter of time for you to experience that healing. Your healing is already a reality.” Wow! In the scope of God’s eternal mind the healing is already accomplished. Gin and I will have to wait until God’s appointed time to experience it but our healing has already been determined and purposed. We may experience our healing on Resurrection Day or in our time here on earth. We do not know... we HOPE! Our hope is secure in God!!!

Okay, I have preached enough. The Browning medical saga does continue. Ginger is home from the hospital and is recovering well from a kidney stone and infection. Thank you for your prayers. Gin is having a second doctor look at her knee to see if the recommended surgery is the right procedure. We have the time since Gin just had surgery on her kidney and does not need to be put under for awhile. Two weeks is just too soon. Ginger is gaining strength; we will let you know the date of her knee surgery once it is scheduled. Gin is able to walk with her brace on (we are praising God); even though she is not supposed to until after her knee is repaired.

Ginger’s parents are visiting for a month or two to help with the hospital and recovery encumbrances of June. We are very thankful!!! Ginger’s sister and brother-n-law were very helpful in May and June. We cannot even show the depth of our appreciation. God is good to give us family support.

Andrea has just returned home after a week at Church camp with Young Life. She had fun and a break from our continuous saga, while zooming down mountains and rivers at dangerous speeds. She is doing fine, as are all the children except Ginny and Bruce. Three out of six is pretty good these days.

Ginny, is in therapy because her tailbone is twisted. This was not discovered until April this year but it has been link to our auto accident in 05. Her therapist says that Ginny is doing well and should only have to be in rehab until Labor Day. We are praying. Would you join us?

Bruce is recovering nicely since the doctors found a medicine his body is not rejecting or allergic to. He is growing stronger and is out of his wheelchair once again and using one crutch when needed for support. Bruce says to tell you all “thank you!” As a prayer warrior, he understands the power and effects of prayer.

Kimber is my best therapy. ‘Gracie’ is 22 months this month and she is beautiful! She talks and cutely says, “I love you”. When I am resting she comes up beside me and rubs her hand through my beard. She usually falls asleep and keeps on rubbing my beard for hours while we both sleep. He name is Kimber- LyAnn Grace. She is God’s little ‘Gracie’ to me “for such a time as this’.

I thank God for each of my children who have stood with me this past year – an alien in the same Dad’s body. It has been difficult to love me, much less to trust and respect me. Yet God has graced us with an undying love for one another. Praise His Name! Gin and I have finally had the strength to take back the authority of our home. The kids have not yet decided if they like this parental choice but they are “learning” to love it (my version, not theirs).

My health is a little more complicated. I will try not to bore you. The neuro-psyche evaluations have come in and these tests do not hold promising news. Any success would be considered a God-thing.

Neuro-psych testing is graded on a simple scale of 0– 100 percent: 100–70 is considered above average, 30-69 is average, 16 -29 is below average and any scores 15 or below indicts impaired neurology or damaged brain functioning. The good news is that my brain learns at the high score of 93%. The bad news is that I retain what I have learned at a much lower number of 9%. The result is I am not allowed to return to driving or work of any kind or to any type of schooling, including vocational rehab for at least one year. An official written report will be forth coming later in the month that reveals most of my learning and processing cognitive functions as impaired.

I personally am not concerned with a driving restriction but I can not imagine never working again. As I have mentioned more than once over the past year, I love my work. I enjoy walking with men through their journey to the Cross and the resulting freedom. God’s grace amazes me! When God sets a man free I am overwhelmed with pleasure and thankfulness; grateful to watch and be apart of God’s transformation of hearts and lives of people. It just feels good to help another person out of the grim of homosexuality, lesbianism, and a variety of sexual lies and addictions. It is even more exciting to see men and teenage boys come to know Jesus as Lord and Savior and walk with them in the marathon of discovering the powerful life of faithfulness and purity. I cannot be silent!

Ministry Intent
It is my plan to continue in ministry. How – is the million dollar question? In talking with my medical teams both in Colorado and Tennessee and our attorneys, NHE at my request is coming up with a plan to return me to active ministry. There are several areas of ministry we can approach in rebuilding NewHeart Expressions as a ministry that I can successfully function in. However, there is a ground rule. NHE may not ever use the term counseling as a professional description of my skills. NHE may extend staff to include those who are professional counselors but as a ministry we will refer to our ministry as discipleship and mentoring. This was our practice before our accident on 05.05.05 but being referred to as a behavioral therapist and Christian Counselor by my medical and rehab teams has placed these terms readily on my lips. From this point forward NHE and I will return to the correct description of our endeavors. NewHeart Expressions is an Exchanged Life and ex-gay ministry. Ministry! I serve as a licensed minister and pastor, providing discipleship and mentoring to those who desire God’s transforming power in overcoming their addictive and/or sexual activities and behaviors. I am NOT a counselor! I am a Christian, set free from homosexuality and same sex attractions, sin and self sufficiency, who is called to serve our precious Lord as an Exchanged Life minister.

NHE has a ministry certificate entitled Strategic Biblical or Strategic Pastoral Counselor (SBC or SPC). This certificate is now abolished and will be replaced with a certificate entitled Biblical Strategist. The materials of study for a person seeking this certificate will remain the same.

Per my request, the NHE Ruling and Advisory Boards are developing a campaign where I will continue to speak and teach the Exchanged Life Truths as applied to addictive behaviors, including sexual addictions and primarily homosexuality. We are developing tools to share Jesus Life with the Gay Community both living in a hidden or in an open lifestyle.

My primary responsibility will move toward training and mentoring those who are called to minister to the Gay Community, those trapped in Internet pornography, and the multitudes imprisoned by the beast of some sexual insanity. Only in small numbers will I engage in mentoring a man, woman, or teen toward the powerful life of purity and freedom. This will be accomplished in two ways: private sessions but mainly through group sessions in secured chat rooms on NewHeart Expressions official website.

Yes, our new website host, CrossSpot, is teaching me and those I select as my accountability, how to establish and maintain secured chat rooms at www.newheartexpressions.org. Check out our internet home regularly for these coming changes. The potential is immeasurable. Just remember that I am 40 miles an hour slower than I was before the accident.

More than Recovery will invite 10 individuals into each support group and teach in four phases that Jesus Christ is Lord, LIFE, Liberator, and our fearless Leader. Woven into these four groups called Foundations, Shadows, Expressions, and the Philippians 3:10 Team are the Exchanged Life (GRACE) Truths of how to wrap ourselves in God and exchange our inadequate resources to meet our needs, for real LIFE, Jesus, the one and only true Source who is able to meet every need we might have. (Isaiah 40:31, Colossians 3:3, 4 NLT).

My little son just came running in to tell me that the thunder and hail storm is over. I asked him if he was scared. He said with a dramatic slow voice, “yeeees”. My response to Levi was to share what God says about being afraid. “Do not be afraid, for I am with you” (Isaiah 43:5, NIV). His smile stirred my heart to soar like eagles as he ran off to play. How easy it is for little ones to trust that God has everything under control. The Browning Saga and NewHeart Expressions share tales of raging storms, deep-seated heartbreak, and extreme sweeping turbulence. Yet, in the midst of our panic, nightmares, and screams I pray you hear the Lord speaking ever so gently to us and to you “Do not be afraid, for I am with you” and “...you are precious to me. You are honored, and I (God) love you”.

God’s sweet love resonates from my neuro- psychologists encouragement. He stated that he might be willing to release me to ministry and mentoring if a tool can be obtained for me to use when mentoring groups and a larger number of private students. My brain no longer has the recall for 300 students. My limit is seven students with detailed note taking. At the eighth student I loose recall of not just one of the eight but all eight. Not a very positive result for a mentor. However, a software tool has been developed for CEO’s, lawyers, teachers, and those whose jobs require a great deal of recall but who have suffered traumatic brain injuries. This software cost over $1000.00 plus accessories. What it does is allow me to record all private and group sessions or even question and answer times in our conferences and workshops and a database sorts and keys the information to some keywords or phrases, allowing me to have an artificial recall when this brain of mine falls to cooperate. The database can even be accessed by a cell phone. We might call me “Mr. Data”. Are you smiling, or do you know who Mr. Data is from Star Trek? No, I am not a “Trekkie”. However, it would be really nice if someone would invent a positronic brain! It would solve all my problems; right? NOT!

The NHE Board would appreciate your financial help in these endeavors. NHE and our family both have expenses each month. Is God moving you to financially partner with us in the rebuilding of NHE’s ministries and the enhancing of my cognitive skills so that I may serve our precious Lord in His mighty strength and with every possible tool He would provide?

The Mount of Olives
Ezra in Jerusalem
On Father’s Day, Ezra, NHE’s former Financial Review Officer in 05, called from Jerusalem while viewing the Mount of Olives just to tell me, “thank you” for two years of freedom from homosexuality and a thunderous same sex lust. Ezra calls every Father’s Day because that is his freedom date. I will never forget that Sunday night when he slammed down his fist on the conference table and exclaimed, “Why have I never heard this? Why does the Church not teach this?” He cried, smiled, and prayed finishing his journey to the Cross that very night and has been living in the Shadow of the Cross ever since; free, Free, FREE!!! Praise God!!!!!!!

It is a privilege to walk with men who are in ministry and watch as my precious Lord leads each one into freedom; the freedom Jesus won at Calvary 2000 years ago. Ezra’s conversion to Christ came years before he learned how to live free. Like so many hiding in the Church, afraid of their sexual appetites and attractions, Ezra decided to come out of the closet! It is stated that coming out of the closet is reserved for those who after years of struggle, finally embrace their same sex attractions and choose to live openly gay. I offer a radical and different definition; "<b>Coming Out of the Closet" is not declaring "I am gay", which is only a journey deeper into the closet of self introspection to find a hidden and many times secret door into a life of heartache and pain, a deeper section of that same closet that may feel good or look right but leads to death. “Coming out of the closet’ is really coming out of the prison where our identities are wrapped up in our sexuality -- into the new LIFE of Christ as new creations; finding our true identity exchanged for Jesus’ Life because there is none other who can truly express real creative thoughts, real and true choices, or real honest emotions. Jesus is our Source! None other will do.

Ezra called from the very place where Jesus ascended into Heaven and will someday return to claim His chosen people; that’s you and me – to take us Home, into His glorious presence forever! The Lord gave me a great Father’s Day gift with Ezra’s call. It made all the suffering and trial seem little in comparison to men, women, and teens knowing Christ and experiencing His FREEDOM as our only all consuming passion!

Weekly Devotions
It seems that I am only getting two or three of our devotions out each month. Writing these expressions of faith really serve as a source of comfort for me. I pray that these Grace Truths are a help and comfort to you as well. I will try to be more consistent to the title of Weekly Devotions.

In June we have examined the new heart, the undivided heart, and we are in our next devotion for July expounding on the satisfied heart. We have seen in Scripture that it is God’s steadfast love for you and I that causes us to receive this new heart with new and right desires. It is this same love that compels us to love Him in worshipful obedience; to live from an undivided heart and live with a satisfied heart. We have read the Apostle John’s words in 1 John 5:3 (NLT), “Loving God means keeping His commandments, and that is not difficult.” Wow! As Jesus reminds us in the gospels His burden, His Life is light and restful.

If you have missed out on reading these devotions and would like to enjoy having them, you can find them on our website in the coming weeks. These devotions are assisting me in writing More than Recovery’s – ‘Foundations’ and ‘Shadows’ Studies which will be available on secured web-pages through NewHeart Expressions in the coming months.

Partnering with NHE
Prayer and Financial Support
I have asked for months if God is moving you to give to NewHeart Expressions and our ministry. Please would you consider partnering with us as we reach out to captives in habitual sin and the Gay Community? Another way you can serve NHE and help rebuild our financial support is to tell others about us. Share our website. We are developing a printable brochure for you to be able to tell others about this needed ministry. It should be on the website before summer’s end.

We also need prayer partners. I know that many, many of you pray for us as a family and as a ministry. In the coming months, Barbara Camp, a board member will be taking on the new title and responsibilities of Public Relations. One of the tasks I would like to see Barbara and the Board consider and develop is a Prayer Wall and a Prayer chat room on our website. Barbara is a prayer warrior and I believe God has connected our paths with Barbara and her husband David for the purpose of encouragement. Prayer is a weapon of encouragement that the Enemy cannot stand against. Humble, surrendered prayer brings forth the very heart of God pouring out His boundless favor upon our lives and the lives of those we seek to share His grace with.

Prayer and finance are two areas you can partner with us in. We also need to develop relationships with Churches, ministries, and Christian groups. In developing NewHeart Expressions, we need Churches to partner with us by inviting us to train their interested members in Exchanged Life Truths and/or ex-gay ministry. We need Churches to support us in prayer and finance. We need Churches, ministries, and Christian groups to embrace our call, our vision, and discipleship ministries as partners they can fully endorse, support, and host. You can help by introducing pastors and Christian leaders to NewHeart Expressions.

Until We Meet Again
Words adapted from Ruth Meyers, the Satisfied Heart
The Bible tells us that God is our treasure, our inheritance – our portion, the best life can offer us now and forever (Psalm 73:25, 26). As A. W. Tozer wrote, “The man who has God as his treasure has all things in one, and he has it purely, legitimately, and forever.” In view of God’s power and majesty and tender love, this statement is easy to understand. But we are His inheritance, His treasure – isn’t this incredible?

The Living Bible puts it this way: “Because of what Christ has done, we have become gifts to God that he delights in... God has been made rich because we who are Christ’s have been given to him!” (Ephesians 1:11, 18). Other Scriptures confirm that we are God’s special treasure, a source of delight to Him. God looks at us and thinks, “He belongs to Me... she belongs to Me. I am so rich!” We are gifts Jesus has given Him – and very special gifts too. We’re just what He always wanted! As Tozer said, we are more valuable to Him that galaxies of newly created worlds.

“You are precious in my eyes,” God says to His people in Isaiah 43:4 (RSV), “honored, and I love you.”

Me? Precious and honored in God’s eyes? He’s the Most High God, exalted above all; He is honored, and we stand in awe of Him. So how can He say I am honored?

In the Moffatt translation, Isaiah 43:4 reads, “So precious are you to me, so honoured, so beloved.” So honored? That’s what I am to Him? It doesn’t make sense, but it’s true. You and I have been brought to a place a highest privilege. God Himself honors and favors us.

When we realize we’re that important to God it does something to how we think about ourselves. Not that it makes us proud. Pride means we take credit for who we are. But God wants us to hold our heads high in thankfulness because we know He loves us and has made us members of His royal family, heirs to all things with Christ, righteous, and the perfection of God Himself in Christ. He gets all the credit. It is He who made us; it is He who brought us to Christ and purified us; it is He who has given us new life in His presence, now and forever.

Throughout all eternity we’ll bring Him joy. We’ll be His jewels, his “prized possession”, His “special possession” (Malachi 3:17, Moffatt and RSV). We’ll be “a crown of beauty... a royal diadem” in the hand of our God (Isaiah 62:3 NASB) – a treasure He will hold close to His heart, a crown He’ll lift high to show His magnificent handiwork. For eternity we’ll be a glory to our Designer and Maker.

One of Ruth Meyers Prayers
...and mine...
Father, I worship before You as my Treasure, my Inheritance, and the best that life can offer me both now and forever. And I come to You deeply thankful – and amazed – that I belong to You as Your special treasure and prized possession – that I am a unique and valued gift that Jesus has given You.

My heart is overwhelmed with gratefulness and delight that you bestow honor that is eternal and unchanging. How grateful I am that earthly honor fades into insignificance in the light of the honor that comes from you – that I no longer need to seek honor from people because I already have the greatest of all honors. I am so glad that I can trust you to take care of the favored-and-honored department of my earthly life, with perfect love and wisdom. Work in me by Your mighty power and love, enabling me to offer a foretaste of the joy I will bring You throughout all eternity.

In Jesus Name...
