This E News shares NHE’s Ministry Objectives and the Browning’s Plans

On June 6 the U.S. Senate will vote on the Marriage Protection Amendment (MPA) which defines marriage as being only between one man and one woman.

What is your response? Do you believe your thoughts matter or count? NewHeart Expressions has avoided political issues like they are the PLAGUE! I do not personally enjoy listening to preachers with a political agenda; or bible teachers, counselors, or any help professional ramble on about politics. It is just offensive to my ‘style’. I believe that loving people is our greatest opportunity to share Christ and His Life that so easily transforms our spirit, soul, and body. Politics often comes across hateful and at war.

Folks, we are at WAR!

The war is not with people or with weapons of mass destruction. The war is being fought with IDEAS and law. I have not found many of the ideas filled with truth. Actually, I have learned that both sides in this war, the Christians and the Gay Activists, are simply wrong.

Last month I read an article written by a Christian woman who writes for the weekly Standard and is president of the Institute for Marriage and Public Policy named Maggie Gallagher. The article weighed the issues with quotes from both sides of the battlefield. I found one opinion that leaned toward the only logical response that could avoid a political bloodbath. All the experts from both sides believe that our nation’s leaders are redefining law and community values.

One of the gravest issues is that American judges are rewriting law. In Georgia Gay Marriages were deemed illegal by a 76% vote of the people only to be overturned by an activist judge. The people found that their opinion and vote does not count when a judge holds a different opinion. It seems the only hope of protecting traditional marriage between one man and one woman is with a national law. On June 6th this will be addressed by the U.S. Senate. If you would like to voice your opinion please contact your Senator. If you would like to know how to make your voice heard before June 6th contact the American Family Association. I have been praying...

...for several months as to the direction we as an organization should take in ministry. NewHeart Expressions has always been an Exchanged Life ministry providing discipleship counseling on a variety of issues. Ginger and I have primarily served as missionaries to the Gay Community hidden in the Church and somewhat to the open Gay Community outside the Church. Because most who have been involved in this ministry have moved on since our 05.05.05 automobile accident NewHeart Expressions has become more and more an ex gay ministry solo. Ginger and I work with people from all types of backgrounds facing all types of struggles. Regardless, we find ourselves enmeshed in ex gay ministry.

One of the most beautiful aspects of our 05.05.05 accident is that I came away totally secure of God’s voice. It’s like no other. No, I am not referring to audio; rather to the ears of my heart. I have always known God’s voice. Many times His whisper has been drowned out by the many voices of the world around me. Not now! When I awoke from coma I heard the Lord’s voice pressing ever so strongly within my heart – “Rest! My son, you have been in my cradle for a few weeks and I have been holding and rocking you. Rest...” I know God’s voice and I hear His direction clearer than I ever have in my life. God is AWESOME!

The Lord has closed every door in our ministry except an active compassion for those struggling with homosexuality. Therefore, NHE is officially an Exchanged Life and Ex Gay Ministry.

NHE continues to offer POWER of Purity (POP) Conferences and Workshops as God provides me with the mental and physical strength. We are also providing over the internet More Than Recovery Support Groups.

We are still seeing two out of three men who attend POP or hear this message of freedom discover real freedom and the stats are currently coming in for those who have been free for several years sharing they are still living out of that same freedom. Our God is so very encouraging.

I am discovering that the main reason Christian men stumble away from purity and freedom is law. They discover freedom in truth cushioned with love and by grace through faith only to find some time later they are wallowing in the same old sins once again – the culprit: embracing the truth as a set of rules; law always increases sin. Those who learn truth and find freedom yet use that same truth as a set of rules will find themselves overrun with the same sins all over again; most often with worse consequences than before. Time and time again we learn that freedom is not about rules but it is always about relationship; a growing relationship with Jesus!

Now what?

What position should NHE take as an ex gay ministry? How should we as Christians respond to our nations laws that are extra biblical and sinful? I mentioned earlier an article from the weekly Standard weighing the expert’s opinions of how Gay marriage affects our country legally. I would like to address that issue in sharing how I believe Christians and the Church should and NHE will be responding to this crisis.

In preface: “Catholic Charities of Boston made an announcement on March 10th: It is getting out of the adoption business. ‘We have encountered a dilemma we cannot resolve... The issue is adoption to same-sex couples.

It was shocking news. Catholic Charities of Boston, one of the nation’s oldest adoption agencies, had long specialized in finding good homes for hard to place kids. “Catholic Charities was always at the top of the list”, Paula Wisnewski, director of adoption for Homes for Little Wanderers, told the Boston Globe. “It’s a shame because it is certainly going to mean that fewer children from foster care are going to find permanent homes.” Some have simply remarked, “This is a tragedy for kids.

How did this tragedy happen?

It’s a complicated story. Massachusetts law prohibited “orientation discrimination” over a decade ago. Then in November 2003, the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court ordered gay marriage. The majority ruled that only animus against gay people could explain why anyone would want to treat opposite sex and same sex couples differently. That same year, partly in response to growing pressure for gay marriage and adoption both here and in Europe, a Vatican statement made it clear that placing children with same-sex couples violates Catholic teaching.”

The above is an excerpt from the weekly Standard... by Maggie Gallagher

And the battle still rages...

Who is right, the Catholic Church or the Gay Activists? “Is the fate of Catholic Charities of Boston an aberration or a sign of things to come? Maggie Gallagher put the question to several experts on both sides of the battlefield. I would like to focus on just one opinion. I believe it is the closest reflection of God’s call to the Church in a day when public policy and values are in such turmoil. As a result, with new laws combined to old laws from the last four decades where is religious freedom or the lack thereof going to find balance or will there be a civil war of ideas between two aggressive and uncompromising opponents?

The opinion I would like to focus our attention will set the stage for the closing of this E News. Amazingly, it is not the opinion of a Catholic, a Protestant, but of a Jewish attorney. Maggie Gallagher writes: “Of all the scholars who attended, perhaps the most surprising is Chai Feldblum. She is a Georgetown law professor who is highly sought after on civil rights issues, especially gay civil rights. She has drafted many federal bills to prohibit orientation discrimination and innumerable amicus briefs in constitutional cases seeking equality for gay people. I ask her why she decided to make time for a conference on the impact of same-sex marriage on religious liberty.

"Not because I was caught up in the panic," she laughs. She'd been thinking through the moral implications of nondiscrimination rules in the law, a lonely undertaking for a gay rights advocate. "Gay rights supporters often try to present these laws as purely neutral and having no moral implications. But not all discrimination is bad," Feldblum points out. In employment law, for instance, "we allow discrimination against people who sexually abuse children, and we don't say 'the only question is can they type even if they can type really quickly."

To get to the point where the law prohibits discrimination, Feldblum says, "there have to be two things: one, a majority of the society believing the characteristic on which the person is being discriminated against is not morally problematic, and, two, enough of a sense of outrage to push past the normal American contract-based approach, where the government doesn't tell you what you can do. There has to be enough outrage to bypass that basic default mode in America. Unlike some of my compatriots in the gay rights movement, I think we advance the cause of gay equality if we make clear there are moral assessments that underlie antidiscrimination laws."

But there was a second reason Feldblum made time for this particular conference. She was raised an Orthodox Jew. She wanted to demonstrate respect for religious people and their concerns, to show that the gay community is not monolithic in this regard.

"It seemed to me the height of disingenuousness, absurdity, and indeed disrespect to tell someone it is okay to 'be' gay, but not necessarily okay to engage in gay sex. What do they think being gay means!" she writes in her Becket paper. "I have the same reaction to courts and legislatures that blithely assume a religious person can easily disengage her religious belief and self-identity from her religious practice and religious behavior. What do they think being religious means?"

I have underlined the statement. Regardless of where one falls on the pendulum of gay rights, orientation discrimination, religious rights, and in my opinion religious orientation or discrimination the question is the million dollar question. If one is gay why do we as Christians expect them not to engage in gay sex? If one is Christian or religious why would anyone expect them not to have values? The reality for America to come to grips with is that both sides of this controversy face a twofold issue: sexual and moral.

To Feldblum the emerging conflicts between free exercise of religion and sexual liberty are real: "When we pass a law that says you may not discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation, we are burdening those who have an alternative moral assessment of gay men and lesbians." Most of the time, the need to protect the dignity of gay people will justify burdening religious belief, she argues. But that does not make it right to pretend these burdens do not exist in the first place, or that to religious people the law is burdening don't matter.

"You have to stop, think, and justify the burden each time," says Feldblum. She pauses. "Respect doesn't mean that the religious person should prevail in the right to discriminate—it just means demonstrating a respectful awareness of the religious position." Feldblum believes this sincerely and with passion, and clearly (as she reminds me) against the vast majority of opinion of her own community. And yet when push comes to shove, with religious liberty and sexual liberty conflict, she admits, "I'm having a hard time coming up with any case in which religious liberty should win." She pauses over cases like the one at Tufts University, one of many current legal battles in which a Christian group is fighting for the right to limit its leaders to people who subscribe to its particular vision of Christianity. She's uncertain about Catholic Charities of Boston, too: "I do not know the details of that case," she told me. "I do believe a state should be permitted to withhold tax exempt status, as in the Bob Jones case, from a group that is clearly contrary to the state's policy. But to go further and say to a group that it is not permitted to engage in a particular type of work, such as adoptions, unless it also does adoptions for gay couples, that's a heavier hand from the state. And I would hope we could have a dialogue about this and not just accusations of bad faith from either side."

But the bottom line for Feldblum is: "Sexual liberty should win in most cases. There can be a conflict between religious liberty and sexual liberty, but in almost all cases the sexual liberty should win because that's the only way that the dignity of gay people can be affirmed in any realistic manner."

The bottom line for me (Ron Browning) is that God’s values should win in ALL cases. The question then arises as to which Christian perspective is God’s. We as Christians lack unity even more than most religious groups. The Gay Community stands strong in unity. I have spoken these words so often, especially when I am facilitating a workshop full of adult preacher’s kids. “Your doctrines have not set you free, mine have! Shut up and listen!!!!”

America is so often in disagreement until an outside threat arises, like 911 a few years back. But when there is no war with the outside then we war among ourselves. Yet, America is still one of the FEW places on this planet where we can worship freely. So we are at a crossroad. Will sexual liberty prevail or will religious liberty? God will prevail is all that I know beyond any doubt!

NHE and our family stand in the gap! We will pray. We will share the truth of God’s Word. I believe God is calling us to love – loving with action those who seem unlovable. Our More than Recovery motto is “100% TRUTH... 100% LOVE... 100% FREEDOM... No compromise! That’s what GRACE is all about.”

Join us as we join this war. Pray with us. Tell others – your pastor, friends, family, work companions, and anyone you believe that needs to hear this message. NHE will be a voice of truth, love, and freedom. We will present Jesus Christ and His LIFE transforming GRACE loudly and proudly. My mentor, Dr. John Woodward, has often referred to me as his hero. That is a compliment and his opinion. He has elaborated upon those words by referring to me as a marine attached to a Special Forces team. Even that is overwhelming. It is nice to know that the Lord fights the battle. Praise God! I sure do not “feel” like a marine. But my heart is as zealous for the Lord and His grace. Will you help me in this ministry endeavor? Will you partner with me financially and win the Gay Community to Jesus? It will not be an easy task to raise the monies. The costs are high. The rewards are even greater – souls won to Christ in a real salvation that sets the captives free!

Our Plan to Spark Revival in the Heart of the Gay Community

I believe the Lord has shown me how to go about this task of sparking Revival in the hearts of Gay men and teens as well as an overflow into the Lesbian Community. This plan can be summarized in our More than Recovery motto: 100% Truth 100% Love 100% Freedom -- no compromise -- that's what grace is all about! Yes, I know America will not notice and laws may continue to support enemy forces. The Church may not even notice. That is okay, for if that is what happens it will not surprise our Lord Almighty. He sees all. He knows all. He is God!

Here is how NHE will set out to spark revival in the midst of the Gay Community both in the Church and in this dying world.

One, we will present Christ as Lord and Life simultaneously to unbelievers living in the Gay Community. Embracing Jesus will spark REVIVAL in the one or in the multitude... even the Gay Community. Scripture holds out a picture of Messiah – first as Lord and Life. Then Scripture points to Jesus becoming our only Liberator and Leader. The key that unlocks this GRACE is LOVE!!! Embracing Jesus in His LOVE will spark revival in the one and in the multitude... even the Gay Community.

Two, we will present Christ as Lord, Life, Liberator, and Leader to every Christian who comes to us with conflict between his sexuality and spiritual grow. Embracing Jesus will spark REVIVAL in the one or in the multitude... even the Gay Community.

Three, More than Recovery is NHE’s Internet Support Group. There are four six month groups to assist men in encountering Jesus! These groups are Foundations, Shadows, Expressions, and the Phil 3:10 Team. The heart of these groups is to help others discover Jesus as Lord, Life, Liberator, and Leader. We believe that a Christian may choose and live free out of his pure heart given by God as he encounters a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. For when Jesus is embraced as Lord, Life, Liberator, and Leader the struggle ends.

The key is LOVE. Paul records these profound words in 2 Corinthians 5:14, “For Christ's LOVE compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died.” This Scriptural truth of compelling LOVE is the ultimate answer and reason for our freedom. A person will meet Jesus as Lord when he experiences God’s love. A person will only discover Christ as his REAL LIFE when he grows in his love for Jesus. A deepening love for Almighty will move us on to embrace Jesus as our Liberator from Satan, sin, and self and to follow Him as our Leader. There is no other real love! A man who desires to be free from any exhausting sin and destructive sex must fall in love with Jesus more than he loves himself and one of self’s symptoms: orgasm. Orgasm can not be Life! Why? Jesus IS Life according to the Scriptures (Col. 3:3, 4). Embracing Jesus as Lord, Life, Liberator, and Leader will spark REVIVAL in the one or in the multitude... even the Gay Community.

I believe that the question that every gay man and teen should be asked is “May I Introduce You the Perfect Lover?” They will all shout yes and the door is opened to sharing God’s love found in Jesus Christ.

Four, POWER of Purity will continue to share an Exchanged Life message to assist many in experiencing a growing RELATIONSHIP with Jesus rather than trying to follow a list of RULES that only lead them back into their struggle. Embracing Jesus as Lord, Life, Liberator, and Leader will spark REVIVAL in the one or in the multitude... even the Gay Community.

Five, NHE will study and develop strategies for raising the monies needed for this type of ministry project. God is our Provider. In Him we trust!!! Embracing Jesus as Lord, Life, Liberator, and Leader will spark REVIVAL in the one or in the multitude... even the Gay Community.

We are speaking with a CPA about developing a realistic financial plan. For now, he will work with last years fiscal budget of $350,000.00 and reduce that into a realistic $100,000.00 annual projection.

Our goal is to raise these funds a year in advance. So beginning in July, if not before, you will find on our website a fiscal graph to show percentages of where we are in reaching the following years objective. Please watch, pray, and ask the Lord if He would use you to give toward that goal. Share these goals and our graphs with your friends, family, co-workers, and Church – along with your pastoral staff.

Six, NHE financial team will be watching how tax laws change toward ‘non-profits’ that are ex gay ministries. It may be that for NHE to continue ministering to the Gay Community we will be forced to drop our non-profit status. If this happens we will be fundraising a dollar in tax for every dollar spent in ex gay ministry. The laws are not this restrictive as of today but they are heading in that direction. Embracing Jesus as Lord, Life, Liberator, and Leader will spark REVIVAL in the one or in the multitude... even the Gay Community.

Seven and up last on our e news agenda, NHE needs several desktops and/or laptops, a server, a database, and a computer technician to help us with writing software, database operation, and website maintenance. If you have the time and believe the Lord would use you to serve us or you know of someone who might be interested please contact us immediately! The position is unpaid to begin. As the Lord allows and provides that could change.

Embracing Jesus as Lord, Life, Liberator, and Leader will spark REVIVAL in the one or in the multitude... even the Gay Community.

What Will Your Position Be?

The “expert” raised a reality question that I will reword into several questions. How do you expect a gay person to act? How do you expect real Christians to act? Each will be true to his convictions, personal beliefs, and to his nature. This is an absolute. If one is gay, we as Christians can not expect him to stop having gay sex. In the same respect, gay people can not expect Christians to embrace homosexual activities and laws that challenge Christian values regarding sexuality.

I challenge you my friends to look beyond your world, your sphere of influence, your Church, your family, and your life. Look through Jesus eyes, He shares His vision with every new heart alive today; see beyond the horizon and ask, “HOW would Jesus love the unlovable?” Ask the Lord of Life to Liberate your soul to LOVE. Deny all that hinders, including your self life; take up your cross everyday, and follow Jesus, our fearless Leader into a war that may have consequences lasting for generations and fight with love, our greatest weapon, for the freedom this country’s forefathers so desperately fought to leave us. Do you sense desperation on the battle front? Are you desperate for Christian freedom in this great nation of ours? More IMPORTANTLY are you desperate for God to give new hearts with new and RIGHT desires?

  • 100% Truth
  • 100% Love
  • 100% Freedom
  • No Compromise
  • that’s what GRACE is all about!

Are you desperate?

The Browning’s Explosive Saga Continues...

WOW! What a month the Browning's have walked through...

  • Ron's Medical and Psyche Evaluation
  • Ginger's Assault
  • Bruce's Surgery
  • Ginger's Surgery
  • Ron's Sex Conviction Plastered
This section of NHE E News has been edited with additional information by an NHE Board Advisor.

Ron's automobile accident in April has led to a series of neurological and cognitive evaluations. As Ron has shared, he falls into a 1% bracket for brain injuried patients. When his brain stops recording memory and he becomes emotionally stressed, other parts of his brain ceases functioning for short periods of time. The two questions now on the table are will Ron ever be allowed to drive again; and more importantly will Ron be allowed to return to work and if so what type of work? The most prevalent question of all, if these issues prove to be permanent, is: are there medications that will compensate for the missing areas of cognitive function. When Ron has, what we are terming as an “episode", he becomes disoriented. At times he panics. His recall is disrupted for a short periods of time and he ceases to function in one or more of his normal motor skills such as driving. The summer will be spent evaluating Pastor Ron and the family.

As you know Ginger was assaulted in early May. The taxi cab driver responsible has not yet been arrested. The Browning's attorney is waiting on the police investigation to be completed so that he can advice them properly. Ginger is not permanently damaged anymore than she was before the assault; she is just bruised, sore, and distrustful. Ron avoided assault because a door to door salesman derailed the taxi cab driver from getting to him. But the NHE Board, Ron, as well as the Browning's attorney, Ginger's parents and many of her family and friends are quite upset that such a traumatic experience is allowed to happen without consequence. We will keep you posted on any developments.

Bruce had orthopedic surgery May the 25th to remove the expansion bar attached to his right femur and the screws in his right ankle. The removal was successful however there were a few complications. The femur is thin and weak and infected. He remained in the hospital a few days because bone infection is more complicated than tissue infections. Bruce did get to return home Tuesday evening about 8pm. Bruce would really appreciate your continued prayers concerning his pain levels and very restricted mobility.

Ginger will go into surgery sometime in July for her knee. Yes, this surgery has been postponed due to the complications in Bruce’s surgical procedure. Our prayer is that with this surgery Ginger will be able to learn how to walk with her paralyzed leg braced. As her husband Ron has shared with me Ginger feels as though her dreams have been derailed. Ginger’s dream as a woman has been to be a “MOM”. You and I know that Ginger will always be “MOM” to her children and a few others as well. But Ginger is really struggling with feelings of incompetence and inadequacy. Please lift her to the Lord in your visits with Him. We all would really appreciate it. Ginger is the glue that God Almighty has used to hold this family together many times – during Ron's prison years, in the establishment of NHE and our work with the Gay Community, and now over the past year with their accident. Really, she serves as the bridge for the whole family. With Ron's brain injury, the family, especially the children, feel like he died a year ago and "some alien inhabits his body" (Ron's words). Brain injury often results in changes to the personality. Ron is no exception. In the following few months, we have learned that Ron may never drive again and that he will not work at the level he worked before the accident. He may not work at all. It has been tough and Ginger has held Ron and this family together. All we can do is thank Jesus for giving Ron such a wonderful wife! Please pray for Ginger as she under goes surgery and serves our Lord as the glue that holds this family piece by piece together.

On May the 26th the Browning's neighborhood was plastered with flyers referencing Ron as a convicted sex offender. There have been two flyers. One lists his name and address. What disturbs Ginger and Ron is this type of activity, performed by a neighbor who has a problem with homeschoolers, places their children in danger. We ask for your prayers. While the Browning's lived in Arizona, then Tennessee, God always used these types of personal advertisements of Ron's convictions, to bring freedom to another man in sexual bondage. It really has never been a negative; except that it hurts the Browning's feelings. Now living in Denver, Ron is concerned because of the gangs and the aggression of the average person they have encountered. Again, we ask you to pray with us for the protection of the Browning's and their children; that God would use this once again to draw many to ‘Himself’!

Steve McVey wrote, "Rest means to trust Jesus Christ as our Life-Source, depending on Him to empower our actions with His strength and direction". Steve continues, "Those who trust in the Lord as their Source are active, but their activity is propelled by a power outside their own -- thus they rest and work at the same time". Steve prays, "Dear Father, for too long my focus has been on what I should do for You. I realize now that the good news of the gospel is in what You have done for me! Thank You for everything You have given me in Christ. Teach me how to actively trust You, depending upon You to do the things in me and through me that You want to accomplish". As our pastor, Ron would say:

Live FREE because you ARE free!
